Part of the beauty of our freelancing lifestyle at The Studio Upstairs and why our stylists enjoy having so much creative freedom is that they have the opportunity to choose out of a multitude of brands when it comes to styling your hair.
It is important to us that as a salon, that we can do our part to dispose of our professional waste mindfully with 95% of our waste being repurposed or disposed of by Sustainable Salons. We choose to stock luxurious retail products that share our sustainable values. Not only do we truly believe that these are the best products for maintaining your hair outside of the salon, but we know that these companies are playing their part in producing sustainable products in ethical ways. We think it’s so important to do our bit to ensure our footprint doesn’t leave a huge imprint on the beautiful environment we are so lucky to be located in.
Professional Products & REDKEN
It is important to us that individual stylist have the freedom to select and work with brands they feel align with not just their style but what will work best in each situation. We’re extremely lucky that all of our team have an underlying love for Redken colour and lighteners for their perfect blondes and wide selection of beautiful shades.
From bright poppy blondes to soft root shadows that fade beautifully, grey blending and rich chocolates, Redken colour exceeds expectations time and time again for both colourists and our clientele, which is why we pride ourselves in being a premium Redken colour salon.
Because sustainability is so important to us, all our bottles, foils, hair and chemical waste are recycled and collected by Sustainable Salons to be repurposed or disposed of sustainably. 95% of our waste is taken from the salon making sure that everything we do in our day to day at the salon doesn’t have a roll-on effect in damaging our environment.
Virtue
Virtue is inspired by a vision to give everyone their best hair scientifically possible. To empower individuals to radically change the health, quality and appearance of their hair, and by doing so, change the way they look and feel forever.

Christophe Robin has been turning the world of hair upside down for the past 20 years. Their innovative, unique potions have been used and loved all over the world & we couldn’t WAIT to get our hands on it for our beautiful little Burleigh Studio. We love the Christophe Robin brand values & products so much that when we finally had the opportunity to partner with them and we decided to go the full shabang and stock as much of the range as we could. With instant results, lasting benefits and products for every hair type we knew it was a no brainer to introduce Christophe Robin into our every day routine as stylists. We have soooo many favourites in this range but our number one has to be the Cleansing Purifying Scrub. This decadent chunky sea salt scrub is the perfect cleansing shampoo that purifies and restores balance to sensitive or oily scalps - we love to use it as a weekly cleansing treatment to completely refresh our scalp & locks!
K18
The newest kid on the block has finally made its debut in The Studio Upstairs. A new addition to the world of re-bonding systems, K18 is the first company to utilise biomimetic hair science to repair hair (fancy right?!). K18 is a ground-breaking brand that has spent decades researching hair and what it truly needs, their team discovered a Miracle Molecule that reverses the damage in the hair caused by bleach, heat tools and mechanical styling, what more could we ask for?! Made in California and loved by hair stylists all over the world, Olaplex is the innovative brand that changed the game for hair treatments. This unique and patented chemistry multiplies and cross-links bonds, repairing hair from within, with every application. By utilising the magic of Olaplex, your hair is protected against breakage when colouring or lightening, leaving your locks healthy, shiny and fresh.
This cult in-salon treatment not only minimises the risk of breakage but also increases elasticity and restores hair to its natural texture and state to improve manageability and help your colour last longer. By using this hair product once a week, your hair will keep that freshly-styled look for longer, keeping your hair immaculate in between salon visits.
Olaplex is free from silicone, sulphates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes. Olaplex is never tested on animals.

A letter from our Creative Director —
After spending years in the hairdressing industry it became apparent to me how these harsh chemicals were affecting my health and the environment. So, when the concept of the studio came to life, it was imperative that we started with the intention to create something that helped improve lives and our environment. That’s why we decided to become apart of a sustainable and toxin-free movement.
The Studio Upstairs is a harmonious collective oasis for like-minded creative individuals who are passionate about inner & outer health, our community & the environment. We are dedicated to providing a relaxing sanctuary for all of our guests that is professional, luxurious & welcoming in a non-threatening, non-egotistical space.
We are very proudly environmentally conscious & aware in all that we do. The studio is part of the Sustainable Salon movement, having up to 95% of our waste taken away to be recycled & repurposed.
Our incredible colour range is free from harsh chemicals, our retail products are packaged from recycled plastic taken from the ocean & we use 100% biodegradable, eco/water-friendly towels.
All the waster materials are collected by Sustainable Salons across Australia and New Zealand and are then sold for recycling or repurposing. Aluminium and foils are sold to recycling plants with the proceeds donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHavest which provides meals to the homeless.
Excess hair that is cut and collected is sent to various locations around Australia to mop up oil spills in our Great Barrier Reef. Plastic bottles are recycled and repurposed into NBN cabling or plastic furniture for community parks and playgrounds.
To be able to do all these amazing things, a $2 eco fee is charged to each bill to allow us to continue to do this for the community and the environment.
